My children went to pay their final respect to Mr. Lee Kuan Yew few hours ago. Valerie left home at about 2.30am and was promptly led to the front of Parliament House where pregnant ladies were allowed to cut queue. Inside, the queue took another hour before Ryan and Valerie reached the casket. Vanessa went at 4am.
Hubby & I went to pay 3am respects to our MM. Young volunteers guiding the queue saw me waddling about and immediately directed us to the “priority queue’. I think I was the only crazy pregnant lady out and about in the wee hours but in our queue we were accompanied by many elderly/disabled folks braving it along with us. It was so touching to see many coming out in the force despite ailments/difficulties and everyone else there so respectful and considerate and orderly. We are a Singapore of resilience and good graces indeed, just like he wanted us to be.

This will be the last celebration of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew’s story on my blog. His impact would be felt beyond time, politics and national borders! I would not be in Singapore this weekend but I will be wearing black on Sunday!
