Aux Beaux Arts @ MGM Macau 美高梅

On the second night of my most recent Macau trip, we dined in Aux Beaux Arts @ MGM Macau 美高梅.

CLASSIC. CULTURED. PARISIAN.
Inspired by 1930s French brasseries, Aux Beaux Arts is a celebration of artistically prepared French cuisine. Bask in warm sunshine over high tea on our sunlit terrace or settle into the comfort of an exquisite dinner, as Chef Elie Khalife treats you to the best of Parisian delicacies. – Aux Beaux Arts @ MGM Macau 美高梅

The high dome made “outdoor” dining within the hotel premise is good the claustrophobic diners.
There’s also a huge floor to almost ceiling cylindrical aquarium for one to enjoy.

Oyster Selection (Daily)
Seafood lovers can expect only the freshest oyster selections from the cold waters of the Atlantic and Australia’s southern coast.

Royal Grand Cru de France (MOP85) were out so we selected a mix of Angel (MOP68), Coffin Bay (MOP48), Franklin Harbour (MOP58), Fine de Claire #2 (MOP50), Smoky Bay (MOP50) and Tasmanian (MOP50).
Prices are per piece.
Some hits and misses.
My co-diners said a couple they had were bad.

I liked Angel and as the name suggests, they were divine; organically certified with light crunch texture, they were well balanced with salt and sweet and mild mineral flavour.
I also loved Smoky Bay which is renowned for its sweet ocean taste!

Prestige Selection – MOP748.

Aux Beaux Arts @ MGM Macau 美高梅

1 Boston lobster, 1 green crab, 4 langoustines, 6 assorted oysters, 4 sea prawns, 3 Alaskan crab leg, 6 mussels & periwinkles.

Aux Beaux Arts @ MGM Macau 美高梅

Langoustine.
The texture was bordering on “powdery” not good in my vocabulary and it’s taste less intense compared to sea prawn.

Aux Beaux Arts @ MGM Macau 美高梅

Sea prawn and periwinkle (marine snail).
The sea prawn was crisp and juicy and the periwinkle was tenderly bland.

Aux Beaux Arts @ MGM Macau 美高梅

Escargot – 6 pieces MOP80 (12 pieces MOP155).
French snails baked in garlic parsley butter a la Bourguignonne.
Sounds grand but tasted common.

Japanese A5 Kagoshima beef at market price.
Also known as the Kagoshima Kuroushi Beef (Japanese Black Cattle or Kuroge Wagyu), the market price ran at MOP5 a gram when we ate at Aux Beaux Arts.
This was about 240 grams so equivalent to approximately SGD200.
Pan-fried to perfection, I think it was worth every dollar spent.

Aux Beaux Arts @ MGM Macau 美高梅

Linguine pasta with Australian lobster confit, fresh basil infused tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese.
MOP320.
The lobster was sweet and succulent.
The sauce was light, going easy for those on a diet.

Aux Beaux Arts @ MGM Macau 美高梅

French Dover sole a la Meunière with potato puree, sautéed baby spinach and garlic confit.
MOP450.
Fish was flavoursome and flaked easily

Aux Beaux Arts @ MGM Macau 美高梅

Chocolate Palet dór with ginger ice cream.
MOP60.
I didn’t like the ginger ice cream.
I found it more like woody cinnamon than ginger and the Palet was hard.

Aux Beaux Arts @ MGM Macau 美高梅

Passion fruit soufflé with orange infusion and lemon – sage sherbet.
Took about 20 minutes for baking time and cost MOP 80.
Soufflé was holding well and did not deflate too much so it spelled yummy!

Can you guess what’s being prepared?

This in a French restaurant can only mean one thing 😉

Aux Beaux Arts @ MGM Macau 美高梅

Crepes Suzette flambéed in caramelised orange butter sauce and vanilla ice cream.
MOP80.
Best dessert out of the 3.

Take your pick of fresh selection of seafood here.

Out of the dishes we had, I enjoyed the Kagoshima sirloin, the lobster pasta and crepes, best. Of course, the bottles of Dom Perignon 2002 my friend brought were a blast!

I would have been very happy eating at this place. I’m guessing it was expensive though.
Hey, you’re doing B&W photos now. I’m feeling a bit insecure now. 🙂
