Mother’s Day Brunch @ Nosh Restaurant & Bar

On Mother’s Day, my children wanted to surprise me with the venue but whilst in the cab, they could no longer keep it a secret. They gave the cabbie the address, “109 Mount Faber”. I asked if it was Faber Bistro. Vanessa replied yes and I casually mentioned that I’d been there before and the food was only okay. That remark changed their plans and within a few seconds, we were re-routed to Rochester Drive. With my camera in hand, I was happy to review a new place.

Nosh - Mother's Day Brunch-9001-2

Brunch menu only.
We cannot order from the main menu.

We were seated outside.
The day was terribly hot and humid.
Although there were fans, they didn’t help.

Nosh - Mother's Day Brunch Garlic Fries-9008-2

Shoestrings Garlic Fries.
In my humble opinion, these were not crisp enough.

Mango Sorbet or the like.
These were complimentary.
They were quite sour and that was supposed to help perk our appetite or something for they couldn’t be tongue cleansers as we haven’t eaten yet.

Fish Tacos – S$19.
Deep-fried Fish, Apple Slaw, Mango Pico De Gallo, Roasted Tomato Salsa, Smoked Chilli Creme and Side of Fries.

The children were debating if the Fish Taco would be a good choice but since the Mother’s Day Menu was rather limited, Ryan decided to “take the risk” (in his words) and ordered it.
Vanessa followed suit.
Both their Fish Taco looked burnt.

Classic Benedict – S$17.
Poached Eggs, Ham, English Muffin and Hollandaise Sauce.

Crab Cake Benedict – S$19.
Poached Eggs, Crab Cakes, Wilted Spinach and Coconut Curry Hollandaise Sauce.
There weren’t wilted spinach but they’s replace with a small salad.

Beef Burger – S$18.
Ground Beef, Cheddar Cheese, Onions, Lettuce, Pickles, Secret Sauce and Side of Fries.

Valerie and Vanessa took turns scribbling but I didn’t realise then that it was a card for me.
Shall we take a peek inside?

The greatest gift of all! When children takes time to write to their mom, even if it is filling in the blanks, lol...

My dearest children, when I say “I love you”, I do not say it as a habit or to make conversation. I say it to remind you and myself that you are the greatest thing that ever happened to me.
I love you 🙂

It was unfortunate that brunch was not so great in terms of food experience but the service was commendable. The staff was efficient and the friendly manager made his round to check on the tables.

“Is everything okay?” the manager asked. I wanted to tell him that the chef had given me bergedil instead of crab cakes and that the fish tacos were black, not delicately charred. I saw the baffled looks from a mom and her 2 children a few tables away. I’m guessing from the limited items on Kids’ Menu that they’d ordered Fish & Chips. I was not exaggerating when I say the pieces of fish were black.

I do mean BLACK! That mom held up the fish against the daylight and squinted her eyes to scrutinise the fillet but did not complain. I was expecting her to ask to see the manager. She didn’t and so it was none of my business. Over at our side, all is forgiven as I had great company for brunch. We paid up for our bland food and moved on for dessert elsewhere.

Happiness is not determined by what’s happening around you but rather what’s happening inside of you.
