Liberation Wrappers & Sliders

My camera has been sent for repair and the service centre promised to get it fixed as soon as possible and I can’t wait for its return and liberate me. Photography as a hobby has in a way gave me lots of creative freedom.

Yesterday, I dug up my old Canon Ixus 860 and was going through the memory card. It had some pictures in it. The following photo was taken in 2010 when I was vacationing in Pulau Tioman, Malaysia.

And then I found this particularly “greedy” picture of me eating (below) and came up with an idea for today’s post.

What will the Japanese society think of me when they see me eating like below?

This picture was taken in Tehran in 2009. I had one of these delicious sandwich called Shawarma.

I had one of these delicious sandwich called Shawerma (Persian – Sharwarma Arabic).

Ochobo – small and modest mouth (on Japanese ladies) is regarded as attractive!

For all we know, I am terribly ugly by their definition 😦

Oh well… In that case, why don’t we free the Japanese women from the spell of Ochobo?!!!

And some clever person did with the creative innovation of “liberation wrapper” which has enabled the Japanese women to maintain their femininity while opening their mouths wide for indulgence such as I had 😉

Please enjoy the following video:

No wonder Mos Burgers (Japanese Burger chain) are so tiny especially when compared to Carl’s Junior. I wonder how the Japanese ladies had cope before these liberation wrappers were created. Did they really just gulped and stared pathetically like the girl in the video?

Burgers, gourmet or fast-food style, are one of my comfort food. When I am in a foreign land and am not game enough to try their food, I eat burgers. I don’t think sliders can go very wrong. Do you like burgers?

I am lucky to be living in Singapore.
The heck with liberation wrappers!

P.S. If I were filthy rich, I would travel the world just to eat the following burgers (prices are in USD):
The Tri-Burger
Old Homestead Steakhouse, Boca Raton
Cost: $100

The Richard Nouveau (unfortunately the shop closed down in 2011)
Wall Street Burger Shoppe, New York
Cost: $150

The Burger
Burger King, London
Cost: $190

Le Burger Extravagant
Serendipity 3, New York
Cost: $295

The Douche Burger
666 Burger, New York
Cost: $666

I think that having a lovely, big hamburger and the lovely big mouth to eat one is a wonderful thing. I would feel it was very unfair that the man can just gobble gobble away and the pathetic woman just sits sipping tea! That would be the DAY! I’m with you. Lot’s of money is all I need to travel the world eating burgers because I already have the desire to do it!

I’m sure there’s lots of juicy succulent burgers in the world! Let’s hope our dreams of burger eating come true, Laura! If I strike lottery big time, I’ll pick you up for our burger hunting trips, lol…

    • Sam Han says:

It’s funny how culture dictates even modern society isn’t it? Yea, the prices are shocking and it’s all marketing. Still I would like to try if it’ll really hit my umami 😉
