Ristorante IL Teatro 帝雅廷意大利餐廳 @ Wynn Macau 永利澳門酒店
I had the privilege to visit Wynn Macau’s fine-dining Italian cuisine, Ristorante Il Teatro, twice. The first time, food was almost inedible as my soup and risotto were overly saltish, and could not be rectified even after sending them back to the kitchen. I did not finish my meal. Food was almost perfect when I visited again within a month. The inconsistency could have been the reason Il Teatro lost its Michelin stars in the recent years.
Chef de Cuisine Anthony Alaimo brings the colors and flavors of Italy to Macau, creating classic Italian specialties from gourmet pizzas and hand-crafted pastas to authentic dishes from Southern Italy. Ristorante il Teatro – the Italian word for theater – mesmerizes you in an extraordinary evening of fine food and entertainment. Inside, the open kitchen is designed for you to view the chefs as they cook, while the spectacular lights, music, color and fire effects from the Performance Lake outside offer the perfect entertainment to make your evening an unforgettable dining experience.
There are two private dining rooms for up to 12 people each, offering private balcony areas and amazing views of the Performance Lake.
Dress is casual elegant. No short pants, sleeveless shirts, open-toe shoes and caps. Children aged five years and above are welcome. – Information from Wynn Macau’s website
The open concept kitchen:
Food I had in 2013 (some food were missing and the photos taken with mobile phones as my camera’s battery went flat):
The main dining area where I had my second dinner in 2014.
Food I had in 2014 (some food we had were not staples on the menu):
The food was recommended and ordered in Cantonese (without menu), hopefully, I got the dishes’ names right. Chef Anthony does hand-pick some foods from farms in Macau so menu may change according to what’s freshest he can get.
While I enjoyed the foie gras, carpaccio, panzanella salad, and panna cotta, I was especially impressed with my main course, the beef.
Although I did not enjoy my first dining experience at Il Teatro, the second trip did compensate enough for me to want to go back again and check out their other items. Carlos, the restaurant manager, had provided us with commendable service. The meal was a good start to 2014.
