In case you do not know, Adrian is a shopaholic! He went missing after we’ve gone MAD!

I didn’t even realised he was astray until we were at the rear of the coffee stall. I asked Yap about Adrian’s whereabout and all he could offer was that Adrian would call us once he’d done shopping somewhere nearby.

So Yap and I made a small round at the front of PasarBella – “pasar” is our local term for market and “bella” meaning beautiful in Italian. There are about 20 stalls in this market and one in particular caught my eye. Straits Wine Organic with its go green plaque, “save water drink wine”, a popular Aussie phrase, and that made me felt a little nostalgic – Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne. Of course, QVM is not as new and classy as PasarBella but the idea is there.

A full lunch tires one out easily and what more with champagne! I was feeling very *sleepy; I needed my caffeine fix. Yap and I scouted for seats before I moved on to Balloon Blasters, which was opposite Dutch Colony Coffee Co., while Yap queue for a latte, a skinny latte and a flat white.

After selecting the appropriate balloon for Adrian, I had half a mind to run to Twelve Cupcakes for the Red Velvet but I was scared I may bum into Adrian on the way out so I played safe and got macarons from Bonheur Patisserie, instead. The risk was transferred to the flavours of the meringue. What does Adrian and Yap like? In the end, I chose 2 pastels and Mint & Chocolate can’t go wrong!

The third furthest from the right is Red Velvet.<br />It has fluffy vanilla cream cheese and a tiny red heart on a classic deep beetroot-red velvet cake and is their best seller.

The bottle shop next to the steps, leading to PasarBella, was where I had witnessed the sale of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin (Brut) slightly higher than what we have paid for our champagne brunch at MAD.

I wanted so very much to have a slice of this chocolate pie (don't know the actual name) but had to restraint myself or my buttons would pop. I will go back again for paella at the other side of PasarBella and come here for this next time.

In fact, he was so excited, he squashed the macarons. We wanted to split the macarons but the brittle sticky cookie won't obliged. In the end, I had the entire Rose flavoured. The chewy centre was nice and not too sweet. Bonheur's macarons were better than Dolcetto's which I felt was too sugary. Vanessa loves pistachios, I'll see if they have some next time.

Adrian is conscious of aging. Asking his age is taboo even though we knew. Adrian is "28" last year, this year and next year! He is perennial ;-)

While sipping my aromatic robust skinny latte, I got an incoming call. I was invited for dinner. Some overseas friends came into town. I had a prior appointment with Tian Tian and a few, to go to Chinatown, for Chinese New Year street photography but that will have to wait. My friends had arrived yesterday and will leave the next, so I had to go. Sorry Tian! Little did I know that after my dinner, a surprise was waiting for me… But you already knew about Butter 😀

*I was feeling tired because after my Japanese dinner with Naomi the previous night, Adrian met me for drinks. We chatted but tore away when we remembered his birthday celebration was lunch instead of dinner.
