Café Chéri 路環常喜 (Macau)

The snaking queue at all 3 outlets of Lord Stow’s Bakery within a stone’s throw “forced” us to dine at Café Chéri, which was lacking tea crowd that afternoon. While my friends settled themselves comfortably in the restaurant, I braved the cold and stood in line for Andrew’s Egg Tarts, at the original shop across the road which has no seatings (there’s an adjacent bakery next to Café Chéri and another behind the original Lord Stow’s shop).

I stepped into this cozy cafe after egg tart shopping. My friends were seated among some sparsely distributed diners near a corner and I found them quickly. I placed my order of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee and Pork Chop Noodle Soup. I didn’t know what my friends had ordered but I was in time to dine with them simultaneously in the end. The food came shortly afterwards.

蓝山 (Lanshan in Mandarin or Lam San in Cantonese = Blue Mountain).
Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee (or Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee) is a classification of coffee grown in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. Blue mountain, for short whenever I order this cuppa, is noted for its mild flavour and lack of bitterness.

There's an option to choose either thin noodles or thick. I chose the thin egg noodles.

Pork Chop was served separately from the noodle soup so as not to pollute the broth with grease.

I was delighted with my choice.
The pork was very tender and the broth tasty. The noodles weren't QQ (springy) but had a firm bite which was more than satisfying.
I was grateful for a warm meal on a cold day.

Café Chéri serves Italian, Portuguese and of course some local Chinese foods to tease the palate of trendy Macanese and curious tourists. The food we had was good. The aromatic buttery crisp croissant was warm and flaking all over when I took a bite. The noodle dish I had was ordinary yet above average. No regrets stumbling in 😉
