83 Live Seafood @ Macpherson Lane

This was the first birthday dinner I had (with my children) and dutifully ends as the last post for my week-long of birthday celebrations with family and friends. Thank you, my friends, for all the well wishes received. Similar comments made were, “Sam, you are very ho mia (好命 meaning having a “good life” with grown/filial children).

Indeed, I am blessed to have lived this long… The shocking and unexpected riot in Little India while I was having dinner with my children and learning of the news later had me recalling this saying, “Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many”.

While writing this post, I was multitasking with my FB Page. I got my last birthday present of the year with the latest “LIKE” making it 400! A small number to many but nonetheless it is a milestone and motivation for me. Thank you, thank you and thank YOU 😀

Yay! I survived sharing on Facebook long enough to garner another 100 LIKES.

Lime juice with Chinese preserved sour plum. This will really perk up your appetite as well as cutting the greasy mouthfeel as you enjoy the food.

Har Cheong Gai (HCG) is Cantonese for Shrimp Paste Fried Chicken. The dish was well executed as usual, crispy on the outside and succulently juicy on the inside.

Spinach with a variety of eggs.
I did like the crunchy leaves but did not like the starch-thickened sauce.
It would have been better without the addition of corn/tapioca solution.

Hotplate Tofu. Not bad but I still preferred Tian Tian's at Outram Road.

This is Shark's Mouth and delicacy known for its gelatinous flesh. There's no meat in this.

The place was packed as usual but quite a number of tables were not opened up due to the rain (there's no shelter). The food wasn't as fantastic as I recalled but the service was fast and attentive. Note: I was parched after that, think msg was used quite heavy-handedly this time).
