Le Le Pot 乐乐锅 @ Seng Poh Road

Space Donut (SD) WhatsApp me to find out if I was available for dinner.

SD: “If we are going to drink afterwards, I won’t drive.”

Me: “We’ll skip the drinks. I can be ready in an hour. What are we having?”

SD: “I’m bringing you to Tiong Bahru for steamboat.”

Me: “Tian Tian?”

SD: “Is that the only steamboat place you know in TB?”

Creature of habits, hehehe… But I do love Tian Tian’s cze char and steamboat albeit the msg.

SD liked the Herbal Chicken broth but I said I craved for something spicy so we had Tomyum as both of us detest Mala (another variation offered for spicy broth).

This was too sweet for my liking and in the end, I enjoyed the pressed garlic and sambal belacan sauce better.

Both SD and I stuffed ourselves silly. I know I'm getting fat but I'll resume exercise next year... Hopefully ;-)

Dumplings came in a set of four. We had this on our second order as SD said they were delicious. I ate two but SD had none. She had thought them to be smaller in size. Maybe she simply had the wrong dumplings in mind.

SD and I were already bursting at the seams. I was telling her I couldn’t down the other 2 dumplings which she aren’t eating. “I guess we’ll have to pay the fine for any wastage”, I told her.

We stuffed as much as we could and gave up. SD went to pay for the food. It was an advance birthday treat from her. My birthday is on 9th December 😀 Thanks SD!

Lo and behold, just as we were leaving, SD suddenly remembered, “We haven’t had dessert! The soybean jelly here is very nice!” She told the staff (they were cleaning our table making way for waiting diners) that she wanted the tofu dessert. “It’s very nice”, she kept droning on. “Okay la”, I gave in and had one too. The dessert had a pleasant hint of “malt” (I’m not too sure as I already sucked on a Mentos, and SD only had Horlicks once in her life so she cannot confirm).

All in all, I would recommend this place for it’s cheap food, good staff service and clean environment if having msg in your food doesn’t matter.

Happy eating 😀

SD had a drink of Lychee Freeze during the buffet. I didn’t. I knew it wouldn’t help. I needed something less syrupy as I’m parched from the msg. Was it the broth or the dipping sauce?

I told SD I want to eat Ice Kacang to quench my thirst and so we went to the market opposite the restaurant. The display at the dessert stall was impressive but food was up to my throat, I decided to order Ice Jelly instead. It was the right choice. It had plenty of ice that did help my thirst. Even though I was dry as dust, I had to admit to SD that the ice dessert sucked! As soon as I told her, it dawn on me why The Silver Chef was unhappy with ice desserts in Singapore. See Happy Land post. I have never really noticed the difference in ice shavings until now. Perhaps the exposure in Happy Land made me unhappy with my dessert tonight.

My other food adventure with SD as follows:
Infatuated With The Fat Bastard
Elegant Grand Astor High Tea

Thank you Space Donut for this birthday dinner treat! 😀
