I Got Sunshine On A Cloudy Day! – Kukup Resort Here I Come Pt. 3 (Final)

The torrential rain had ruined our sunrise photo session and it remained cloudy all day, but none of our spirits were dampen. No siree!

You know the saying “All good things must come to an end” but we were not quite done yet… Nope, we still have half a day to clown around with each other.

Chi Sao’s sister and her boyfriend were missing in the above picture as they weren’t expecting us to have a group photo so early. They had gone roaming the island resort on their own (immediately after breakfast) which was what we did after this shoot.

The stress-free Kampong lifestyle was envious to us, city dwellers. Brought back some memories of me staying over at my grandma’s kampong house in Changi during my primary school holidays. During the flood seasons, the water would reach up to my neck. I can’t see the grounds; I put one foot in front of the other and kept walking, just kept having faith that somehow I would reach her house in one piece. I did, that’s why I’m still here, blogging 😀 Those were the days…

The yellow building in the background is the ferry terminal on the mainland. This was our final goodbye. The carnival is over…

One last kiss meal 😉

Jun Xuan is an ovo-lacto vegetarian. Special meals were prepared for him during this trip. Mr. Goh, Jun Xuan’s father, was not and he indulged in the scrumptious seafood lunch with us. The younger Goh became a vegetarian for humanitarian reason. He doesn’t criticise us about killing animals for food and we in turn do not lecture him on how he would never have grown past five feet with his adoption of a fleshless diet had he been a pubescent.

I was intrigued by the sugarcane machine. Tiantian asked if I wanted to take some live action photos. I said I would love to and she ordered some juice, telling the man she wanted freshly pressed ones instead of those in the jugs so here’s the pic 😀 Thanks Tian!

Jimmy was wondering what the heck Tian and I were up to. I really want to thank this vendor for being so obliging. He had 3 big jugs of freshly squeezed juices at the table. I know because I saw him pressed the canes. He did not utter a word as he knew what our intention was. Thank you Mr. Sugarcane Man :D

But the star sunshine on this cloudy day was Jimmy Low! Wanna know why? Look at the picture below for answer 😉

To summarise my trip, it was great! I have learnt a lot of new tricks in photography and the best of all was making new friends!

New friends made, new tricks learnt.

Whenever I miss the memories of Kukup and the camaraderie of the kakis, I just have to look at these photos.

P.S. New Kukup Seafood Restaurant 龙皇海鲜楼 is the first restaurant on the right as you face the ferry terminal (next to the jetty, at the end of the road) on mainland. The service was efficient and the kitchens were very clean indeed! The food was not spectacular but definitely good enough (fresh and amount was sufficient) to feed all the hungry Jacks.

Happy discovering 😀

P.S. Some of the photo credits go to: Benjamin GX Lin, Leonard Lawrence Tan and Tiantian Zhang. Sorry if I’d missed out anyone.
