The House of Robert Timms @ Wheelock Place
We came here just for the desserts so I cannot comment on the Stout Braised Kangaroo Loin and Braised Crocodile Casserole that this bona fide Aussie restaurant serves.
However, their Pavlova caved in and frittered into fine clumps of sugary goodness as I indulged. The Sticky Date Pudding wasn’t sticky in the mouth but it did impress enough to be stuck in my mind; a must have for next visit.
Sweet tooth gratified!

The House of Robert Timms is located opposite these buildings. You see why we chose to sit al fresco.

their wide selection of bakes but quite a few items were sold out so we chose two of the available ones.

Bored while waiting for desserts and not interested in the guy chat, I took a few pictures of my water, lol…

Pavlova with Strawberry Ice Cream.
This meringue dessert had a crisp outer crust and marshmallowy soft, light inside. The raspberries provided the right touch of tang and sour.

The caramel sauce was not as thick as I’m used to but the whole combination was perfect! The pudding had bounce and was not overly dense. I’ll definitely have this again. I think it will be perfect with a cup of hot tea.

Playing some catch up since we last met. Was it at Bomba? I’d lost count.

Bill for Aussie dessert and coffee – S$49.20
Caffe Latte S$6
Cappucino S$6.30

This is a great, very well-written line. “However, their Pavlova caved in and frittered into fine clumps of sugary goodness as I indulged.” NICE! 😀
Sam, your photos are always evocative of the places you go to. How did you do the staring on the lights? Is that a special lens?
The coffee art always amazes me. I keep wondering how the baristas do it. Clever, clever people.
Hi Janet,
Coffee art has gone 3D using the milk foams but I have yet to visit those shops. I used a 30mm prime lens for this outing and brighten up everything with +2 exposure. I just noticed what you mean by staring on the lights, lol… I hope to be able to replicate that! Thanks!
What an amazingly delicious post! Everything looks wonderful-your photos are tops as usual!
Thanks Laura! The cakes were delicious and I want to eat more, hehehe…
I was a regular at Wheelock RT outlet. Unfortunately their dining menu had shrunken to half the items they had as of 2014 😐 Their Giant Macaroons are also quite disappointing. PAUL’s are much better
Hi Little,
I have not been back to RT and am sorry to hear that they have not been up to par with their earlier standards. Great food seemed to be dwindling in our local scene these days. Good restaurants and cafes are certainly not having it easy maintaining their standards. Thanks for the update and do share some places that you like. I have lots of places yet to visit 😀
You’re quite the photographer now. That’s a lot of nice desserts. 🙂
Thanks, Draco.
Is there Robert Timms in Sydney?
I would go back for the Molten Bundt with Ice Cream for sure 😀
I know the name, and I think they have 1 cafe in Sydney, but I’ve never been to it.
Go try it and let me know what you think? 🙂
