Coin Prata

I have a weird appetite. It seems like the more I eat, the more (and faster) hungry I get. One dish meals aren’t able to satisfy me and I usually have a couple of items. If I had only a bowl of noodles for dinner, you’d know I’ll be ransacking the fridge in no time. As it turn out, I got hungry in the middle of the night. There was nothing I fancied in the fridge and so I went to 7-11, a 24-hour neighbourhood convenient store chain with the slogan “Always close but never closed”. Browsing around, I saw this “new” packaged meals (not frozen). The tiny size of the pratas (a.k.a. roti canai, parathas) attracted me. I was trying to justify my eating a curry meal at wee hours of the day. I bought two, that’s all they had. I got two because the package said “coin pratas” and they do look tiny.

This is how they look before I pop them into the microwave.

One section contained the curry dhal with a piece of chicken and the other, 4 pieces of prata.

Oops! The instruction said not to remove the plastic wrap nor poke holes into them but I had already removed the wrap earlier to show you. So I put the cardboard jacket over the box and heat it accordingly on high (my microwave is at 850 watts) for 2 minutes.

The "wet" pratas quickly evaporated into hot breads, not crispy but the not-so-oily doughy texture was good and satisying.

For less than S$3 and there's no need to change out of my home clothes, put on make-up and grab a cab, I'm really happy with this find!

I have quite a number of frozen foods I store in bulk and CP brand is one of my favourite. This new find just made it into my list. What a gem!

Available at most (if not all) 7-11 Convenient Stores located all over the island.

Happy discovering 😀

The more you eat, the hungrier you get? I think I guessed that already. 🙂

It’s very strange, but not only are your posts not getting into my reader on time, but when they do, they register as the wrong time and block my reader. By that I mean, this post appeared in my reader just after someone else’s from 8 hours ago but yours is listed as 1 day ago, and then all other posts in my reader following yours are from the previous day. So I’ve lost 16 hours of posts in my reader. As I only check my reader every 24 hours or so, I’m losing a lot of posts in my reader and didn’t realise it. My only remedy at this time is (sadly) to unfollow you in order to restore my reader. But don’t fret. I will deliberately visit you daily instead because I need my regular dose of Sam. 🙂

I tend to get the posts about an hour before dinner most of the time and they make me go even hungrier,

I’m so sorry Draco, about this. Yes, you did the right thing to unfollow. I just found out the links i posted on my facebook (personal and fb BT) on this coin prata showed “not found, error 404” whatever that means, after reading your comment. I hope it will clear up soon. getting a little frustrated over at this end. Thank you for highlighting. I’m gonna lay off and reboot my computer. My FB analytics showed higher number of people (93 saw this posts) see the post but it was actually a “phantom (not found)” post and none highlighted to me that the link was broken.

Those look delightful! I’m a curry fanatic, anytime, any kind and anywhere. Even for dessert -if there were such a thing.

I love spicy food and am gobbling down whatever i can for now as i suspect spicy and coconut gravy will not go well in my diet soon. getting intolerance this year, a warning sign (old age). 😉
