Dolcetto by Basilico – Feast For The Senses!

Espresso Tiramisu - Unmistakably Italian!

Espresso Tiramisu – Unmistakably Italian!

Could it be that was all so simple then…
Or has time rewritten every line?
If I had the chance to do it all again…
I would! I would! I would!!!

Lazy afternoon tea after a fashion show with the ladies. Ahhh… those were the days, my friend 😉

Being the sorellina in this group, I was always privileged to have the thickest cut of the meat or the biggest slice of a cake. Nah… I always had them because I’m the one who had the greatest appetite! Anne would always remember the carnivore she sat next to in Brazil Churrascaria many years ago. She’s amazed and in awe, the amount of meat I could consume, hehehe… Chill, Anne! I was pubescent then :p

Hungry like a cow as usual (that’s me not them), Anne hastily brought us to the lobby level of Regent Singapore, where we had lunch at Summer Palace earlier. We turned into a corner near the Cuscaden Road exit of the hotel lobby. We had arrived… Now let’s feast!

Dolcetto by Basilico was conceived and born to meet the demands from fans of Basilico’s (Regent Singapore’s Italian restaurant) breads and desserts. The frequent requests for something-to-go set it to become a takeaway gourmet deli, with polished coffee tables and comfy lounge chairs just outside shop for those, like us today, who wishes to dine in.

Dolcetto by Basilico is self served as it was meant to be a takeaway deli. Seats are strategically placed outside the shop for dining in guests.

Dolcetto by Basilico displays a variety of Pane (breads) as well as Panini such as Squid Ink with King Crab and Prawns, Prosciutto and Mozzarella, Foccacina Truffle Mascarpone and Vegetables, and more if only my brain served me well but I was too busy snapping away, lost in the world of pane!

Yes, I was lusting through the display window and that explained very clearly why this photograph was not clear. Clear?

Macarons

Macarons
Dolcetto by Basilico offers 9 unique flavoured Macarons such as Grapple, Strawberry Balsamic, Squid Ink and Salmon, Amedei Chocolate and Chilli, and Sicilian Pistacchio, just to name a few.
The name, Macaron, is derived from the Italian word macarone, maccarone or maccherone, the Italian meringue. The confection is characterised by smooth, squared top, ruffled circumference (referred to as the “foot” or “pied”), and flat base. It is mildly moist and easily melts in the mouth. Info: Wikipedia

When Anne Marie took this picture and I said I like its clarity and colour, she proudly proclaimed it’s the composition – a term I’m sure her hubby must have subliminally drummed into her, lol…

They even have custom-made leather baskets for your something-to-go. Talk about Italian’s passion for food and fashion!

I was lost in my world of photo-taking, enhanted by the feast before my eyes. All sounds seemed muffled and far-away, I was in a trance. It was so quiet I could hear a pin drop. Just as I was about to come to my senses, clear as a bell, I heard Anne saying to Naomi, “We shall order, let her concentrate on taking all the pictures she wants”. Friends such as them are a blessing – no complaining even though they are not into photography but they did understand my enthusiasm. For they, too, have photographers at home. I resumed my shooting for I have no qualms not participating in the ordering of desserts; with Anne Marie and Naomi, when it comes to eating orgasmically, these ladies top the chart!

By the way, I heard it from the grapevine that the foie gras station is among the highlights of Sunday Lunch at Basilico and I hear them calling my name 😉

I love Italian coffees and bakeries. I’m glad I am maintaining my weight lately. Actually I used to suffer yo-yo diet syndrome. Perhaps the frequent meals (since I started bogging) has helped my metabolism? Have a great weekend Pastor Ashcraft 😀
