Kesuke Takeda – The Tonkotsu King

Kesuke Takeda the Tonkotsu King. The amount of ramen my family and I eat averaged out to be one bowl a day – that’s at least 365 bowls a year. I wouldn’t claim to be a ramen connoisseur (because we usually eat at the same haunts) but this little ramen shop deserves a mention in my blog.

Many call the founder Keisuke but the menu states Kesuke (which could be a typo) and since I have not verified with the staff nor the man himself, I shall use the name Kesuke as is in print on the menu.

Kesuke’s Tonkotsu King, the ramen shop at Tanjong Pagar, goes back to basics of pork bones soup base, after feedback from Singaporean customers that we are not accustomed to his unique creation of ramen soup bases simmered with prawns and crabs.

Dining at Kesuke Takeda the Tonkotsu King1©BondingToolThe shop can only sit about twenty persons so be forewarned that there will always be a long queue during lunch and dinner hours.

Sesame Seeds1©BondingToolBlack and White Sesame to be ground (D.I.Y.) and put into the noodles as per your desire. There is also free flow of Hard-boiled Eggs (White shells are normal eggs and Brown shells are lower in cholesterol) and cold Bean Sprouts marinated with sesame oil. They are put on the table and you eat as much as you want.

Tonkotsu King Kesuke1©BondingToolI would suggest a Tonkotsu Ramen Special (All Toppings) for your first visit.

Address: 1 Tras Link, Singapore 078867
Phone:(+65) 6636 0855
Transit: Tanjong Pagar

P.S. Unlike Gekkazan, Ajisen Ramen and the other ramen-ya(s) in Melbourne which also serve sushi rolls and bento, Tonkotsu King Singapore specializes and sells only ramen in rich, full-bodied tonkotsu stock.

Happy eating 🙂
