A Game Of Chess

People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use. – Kierkegaard

Here’s my first attempt at poetry, I hope you enjoy it 🙂

Man cries for freedom of the press like a damsel in distress.
We put on our battle dress approaching life like a game of chess.
Are we really a success?
Who are we seeking to impress?
What are we trying to express?
Why do we always digress?
Where do we go to confess?
When will our lives have less stress?
How do we start to reassess?
We need to let go of our bitterness in order to progress.
Then perhaps we can repossess; our lives will be lighter without the excess.
